The Chronicle is dying

By John Labriola - You may have heard that the Citrus County Chronicle is stopping home delivery as of April 1 and cutting back publication to just five days a week. When the Chronicle announced the news last month, Executive Editor Jim Gouvellis tried to put a happy face on this major downsizing by framing it as a "strategic move" to embrace "adaptability" in "meeting our audience where they are."

No wonder the Chronicle has been nicknamed the "Comical."

The truth is that the Chronicle is hemorrhaging subscribers and can't afford to keep delivering its questionable product to the dwindling number of readers who are willing to continue paying more and more to receive their news through a highly biased liberal lens. But instead of offering a mea culpa for failing to reflect or even respect the values of its overwhelmingly conservative market, the Chronicle – in typical dishonest fashion – is spinning its move to drastically scale back operations as just a shrewd business decision.

So why are so many residents canceling their Chronicle subscription? Because they're fed up with its aggressive liberal bias and woke agenda.

Maybe it was the many vicious editorial attacks on all the decent, Bible-believing parents and grandparents who demanded an end to taxpayer-funded LGBT propaganda displays in our libraries and who called for terminating the county's membership in the Marxist lesbian-led American Library Association.

Or maybe people got turned off by the Chronicle's years of hosting its "Diva Night" drag queen extravaganzas, which finally came to an end two years ago after the Citrus Crusader published an exposé  on how children were being admitted to the sleazy LGBT-promoting annual show.

Or maybe it was when the Chronicle went ballistic against a county commission resolution that simply urged the federal government to secure the border, which ironically was placed on the commission's agenda around the same time that one of the Chronicle's carriers became the victim of a carjacking by illegal aliens.

And the list goes on and on.

Bottom line, the Chronicle is dying because of its obvious contempt for the majority of the community it's supposed to serve. It's dying because it's more committed to promoting its leftist ideology than retaining readers. It's dying because it's hell-bent on subverting this county's small-town conservative Christian character by pushing LGBT perversion, DEI politics and even abortion.

So let's join the Chronicle's editor in celebrating its "strategic move" to the terminal ward of failing liberal rags.
