Call to Action: No more LGBT activists on library board
By John Labriola - Citrus County commissioners will meet Tuesday morning in their capacity as the Library District Governing Body to fill a vacancy on the Library Advisory Board (LAB), the nine-member volunteer board that makes policy and budget recommendations regarding the county's library system.
The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. in the Citrus County Courthouse, 110 N. Apopka Ave., Inverness, FL 34450. Commissioners will be joined by Inverness Councilwoman Jacquie Hepfer and Crystal River Councilman Ken Brown, who are part of the nominating body that appoints LAB members.
A total of 17 applicants have applied for the opening.
The meeting to choose a new LAB member comes on the heels of the county's decision to cut ties with the far-left American Library Association (ALA). LAB members voted 5-1 on Aug. 22 to recommend discontinuing annual membership dues to the ALA after more than 30 residents showed up to voice their outrage over the ALA's aggressive promotion of drag queen story hours and explicit LGBT materials targeting children.
The LAB's two most liberal members, including Vice Chairwoman Neale Brennan, were absent from last month's library board meeting, so they weren't there to browbeat their more moderate fellow LAB members into supporting the ALA.
County commissioners later backed up the LAB's recommendation.
Brennan vented her rage over the county's exit from the ALA at a recent county commission meeting, where she cast critics of the radical organization as uninformed bigots motivated by "fear of lesbians" because the ALA elected Emily Drabinski as its president. (Besides being a lesbian, Drabinski is a self-proclaimed Marxist who has used her position to advance a host of left-wing causes including LGBT indoctrination of children.) Watch Brennan's unhinged and dishonest rant HERE or by clicking her image.
Given her meltdown over the cancellation of ALA dues, Brennan's continued leadership position on the library board poses the threat of ALA dues being reinstated next year if county leaders tip the board's balance back to the left by naming a Brennan ally to the open seat.
That's why residents need to show up Tuesday morning to demand the appointment of someone who reflects Citrus County's conservative values and will oppose any effort to reestablish the county's financial ties with the ALA. Conservative applicants include Lenora Jones-Nelson, Michael O'Connell, Richard Matherson, Lala Sanders and Marianne Parker, who have all spoken out against the ALA's agenda at public meetings.
