Trump's back!
By John Labriola - President Donald Trump returned to the White House this week and took a rapid series of bold executive actions that have sent an unmistakable message to the nation: Woke is out.
Trump, who vowed to end transgender insanity in the federal government during the campaign, kept that promise on Day One by signing an executive order which declares that there are only two sexes, and that sex is an immutable biological trait that cannot be changed. The order ends a host of transgender policies across the federal government, bans the use of federal funds for "sex changes" of prison inmates, requires that government-issued identification documents accurately reflect the holder's biological sex, instructs the removal of "all statements, policies, regulations, forms, communications, or other internal and external messages that promote or otherwise inculcate gender ideology," and requires agency forms that require an individual's sex to list only male or female.
Also on his first day, Trump signed several orders terminating Biden's insane open border policies. They include ending catch and release, restoring the Remain in Mexico policy, denying public benefits to illegal immigrants, suspending refugee resettlements and resuming construction of the border wall which was canceled by Biden.
Trump also canceled radical DEI mandates and programs across the federal government, placing all federal DEI workers on leave, and rescinded Lyndon Johnson's 1965 executive order establishing affirmative action, which has long been used to justify hiring based on race instead of merit. He also ended Biden's weaponization of the federal government against conservatives and began a promised purge of the Deep State bureaucracy that undermined his first term by firing hundreds of Biden loyalists from the Justice Department and other federal departments.
Finally, Trump fulfilled a campaign promise to provide a blanket pardon to January 6 protesters, who were demonized and viciously persecuted by Biden's weaponized federal law enforcement. Among those whose charges were dismissed was Citrus County resident Jesse Rumson, who was awaiting sentencing for allegedly assaulting an officer at the Capitol, which he denies. Former Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast's participation in his arrest, which he boasted of on the Sheriff's department Facebook page, sparked an angry backlash that ended up costing Prendergast his reelection. Rumson parlayed his fame into a run for County Commission against incumbent Holly Davis but was removed from the ballot by Elections Supervisor Mo Baird for a paperwork error after he was originally qualified. Rumson is challenging his disqualification in court and has said Gov. Ron DeSantis has agreed to schedule a special election if he wins his case.
