Vote this Tuesday!

By John Labriola - This Tuesday is Election Day, and it's an important one for Citrus County. Most local races – including for County Commission, Schools Superintendent and more – will be decided now, not in November.

Because virtually all the candidates are registered Republicans, the primary will be universal, meaning open to voters of all parties.

Despite the August election's importance, turnout is usually anemic. Two years ago, the August turnout was only 31 percent, despite nine days of early voting and unlimited vote by mail. Most voters don't understand that if they don't vote in August, they have no say in who sits on the County Commission and other positions. They also don't realize that nearly all candidates run as Republicans, not because they're necessarily conservative, but because they know they can't get elected as Democrats in Citrus County. That means if you sit out this election and don't vote for the conservative Republican over the liberal RINO, you're allowing a liberal minority to continue running our county.

So be sure to vote this Tuesday!

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Find your precinct voting location HERE.
