Rumson removed from ballot

Jesse Rumson, who was running for county commissioner against Holly Davis, is out of the race after elections officials learned of a paperwork error.

Rumson turned in his paperwork well before the June 14 qualifying deadline, but one of the forms was not notarized. He was given a new form to sign in front of a notary, but elections officials did not notice that he failed to check a box. The error wasn't caught until after the deadline.

Rumson was convicted in May of multiple charges for taking part in the Jan. 6, 2021, "Stop the Steal" rally at the U.S. Capitol.

Rumson's exit leaves Davis with no August primary, since Ken Walters dropped out a week before. Instead, she will face No-Party candidate Paul Grogan in the November election.
