Large crowd rallies to protest Trump's politicized conviction
By John Labriola - A large crowd of Citrus County residents waving flags and signs gathered at the corner of Lecanto Highway and Norvell Bryant Highway on Saturday to support President Donald Trump in the wake of the politically motivated conviction of the 45th president.
A rigged New York jury on Thursday found Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with hush money payments to Stormy Daniels under a novel legal theory that had never been tried before.
The statute of limitations had run out on the misdemeanor offense, so Soros-backed District Attorney Alvin Bragg tied it to another crime during the trial's closing arguments to upgrade it to a felony. Far-left Judge Juan Merchan, who donated money to the Biden campaign, gave the jury illegal instructions that allowed them to choose one of three crimes without specifying which one – a Constitutional violation.
The unprecedented case of election interference didn't surprise Ken Walters, a candidate for the County Commission and a member of the Citrus County Republican Executive Committee (REC). In February, he sponsored an REC resolution urging the Commission to condemn the multiple politically motivated prosecutions against Donald Trump. Although the REC overwhelmingly approved the resolution, Commissioners ignored it.
"Look what's happened. Our ex-president got convicted on 34 counts, and the commissioners should be held accountable," said Walters, who's running against far-left Commissioner Holly Davis. (Donate to him HERE.)
REC member Harry Cooper, who attended Saturday's rally, feels the same.
"I think it's pretty sad," Cooper said. "Not everybody on the Board of County Commissioners is a true Republican. We have our share of RINOs there."
The next County Commission meeting is on Tuesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. at 110 N Apopka Ave., Inverness, FL 34450.
