Remembering the victims of abortion

Citrus County pro-life leaders will host the annual Roe v. Wade Memorial Service in downtown Inverness to commemorate the lives of the nearly 70 million victims of abortion on the 51st anniversary of U.S. Supreme Court's infamous ruling legalizing abortion.

The memorial service will begin at noon Monday, Jan. 22, on the Old Courthouse lawn, 1 Courthouse Square.

Inverness Mayor Bob Plaisted will emcee the event, which will feature a keynote speech by pro-life activist and speaker Chelsey Painter Davis as well as remarks by representatives of Citrus County Right to Life, the Citrus Pregnancy Center, and the Pregnancy & Family Life Center of Citrus County. The event will conclude with a solemn march around Courthouse Square led by the Knights of Columbus.

Residents are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. Signs will be provided.

Despite Roe being overturned, the fight for the right to life is far from over, as abortion remains legal in most states. The bloodthirsty abortion industry also is financing multimillion-dollar ballot initiative campaigns to enshrine abortion on demand in state constitutions across the country, including here in Florida.

Citrus County residents can fight back by signing the Sanctuary for the Unborn petition urging our local elected officials to adopt ordinances outlawing abortion clinics in our community.
