Heroes Walk raises $30,000 for pregnancy center

By John Labriola - Well over 100 residents participated in the Pregnancy & Family Life Center (PFLC) of Citrus County’s annual Heroes Walk for Life last Saturday in Floral Park.

The walk and ensuing bake sale, held every October in honor of Respect Life Month, raised about $30,000 for the PFLC. The center provides free and confidential pregnancy tests and ultrasounds, parenting education, maternity and infant clothing, adoption services and other resources at its downtown Inverness location to help every woman to carry her baby to term.

Jack Marshall and his wife Anita of Homosassa,  who have been participating in the walk for the last three years representing St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church's Respect Life Ministry, raised over $800 from church parishioners this year.

“We are definite supporters of the unborn,” he said.

Participants also signed the Sanctuary for the Unborn petition to encourage local elected officials to enact ordinances outlawing abortion clinics in our community, as well as the Human Life Protection Amendment petition to place a question on the November 2024 statewide ballot to enshrine the right to life of the unborn in the state constitution.

If you couldn't to attend the walk but would like to help the PFLC continue to fulfill its mission, you can donate online at partnersofpflc.org, or call (352) 344-3030 to learn more.
