Citrus librarians continue grooming minors
By John Labriola - The Citrus County Library Advisory Board (LAB), the citizens panel that helps decide policies and programming for the county's public libraries, will meet this Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 8 a.m. in the Lecanto Government Building.
It will be the LAB's first meeting since county leaders decided last month to appoint a local pastor to a vacancy on the board in an unsuccessful attempt to appease critics of the county's epic mishandling of LGBT propaganda displays in the county libraries.
Along with appointing Crystal River Church of God executive pastor Justin Strickland to the open seat and reappointing a conservative LAB member to a third term on Jan. 24, the county's elected leaders also angered local parental rights advocates by reappointing two liberal LAB incumbents, thus preserving liberals' supermajority on the nine-member panel.
The once little-noticed LAB began drawing intense public scrutiny after the library system's infamous June 2021 celebration of "LGBT Pride Month," featuring rainbow-flag-draped displays promoting homosexuality and transgenderism to patrons of all ages. In a 7-2 vote last year, the LAB rejected a petition signed by more than 1,000 residents to ban the LGBT grooming displays. In deference to the LAB, a closely divided county commission voted to reject a proposed ban on LGBT propaganda displays when the issue came before them on two separate occasions last year, with County Commissioner Jeff Kinnard casting the deciding vote as he joined liberal Commissioners Holly Davis and Ruthie Schlabach. Library administrators nonetheless decided not to have "LGBT Pride" displays in June 2022 in response to the public outcry.
But woke librarians in at least one of the county's five libraries continue to push the LGBT agenda as aggressively as they can on young readers. The teen book display in the back of the Lakes Region Library in Inverness, which features rotating titles, typically includes several books with explicitly LGBT themes aimed at minors. The current display includes at least four such books: A Tale of Two Princes (a "gay teen romance novel"), Teen Trailblazers: 30 Fearless Girls, which celebrates the transition of teen transgender celebrity "Jazz" Jennings; Friday I'm in Love (a "black lesbian teen romance"); and 6 Times We Almost Kissed (and One Time We Did) (another "lesbian teen romance"), along with several books promoting witchcraft. The ongoing LGBT grooming of minors by local activist librarians proves county commissioners got it wrong when they refused to adopt a policy to ban the practice and compounded the error by refusing to appoint a conservative majority to the LAB to address the problem once they punted the issue to them.
But the slight change in the LAB's composition gives concerned Citrus County residents another chance to bring up the issue when the LAB meets this Tuesday, especially in light of local librarians' continued in-your-face flouting of the community's conservative Christian values.
The public will have the opportunity to address the LAB at the start of the meeting at 8 a.m. immediately following the pledge of allegiance and the approval of the previous meeting's minutes. The meeting will be held in Room #166 of the Lecanto Government Building, which is located at 3600 W Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
Residents who are unable to attend the meeting can call Inverness' Lakes Region Library at (352) 726-2357 to express their concerns about the teen grooming display.
