Inverness residents call for Councilwoman Jacquie Hepfer's removal from Library Governing Board
By John Labriola -
Hepfer was one of five governing board members who voted last week to renew the terms of five Library Advisory Board members over the objections of large numbers of parental rights advocates who asked the board to consider more family-friendly candidates who would not push for LGBT propaganda displays in the libraries. Hepfer also dismissed residents' concerns as a "dog and pony show." (See video.) The Library Governing Board is made up of the five county commissioners plus one representative each from the Inverness and Crystal River city councils.
"I was disappointed and disillusioned after all the public discussion when Councilmember Hepfer referenced the outpouring of Citrus County citizens as being a ‘dog and pony’ show," said Paula Johnson of Inverness, who was among the 34 LAB candidates whose applications were overlooked. "I thought it was a statement that spoke of entitlement and a disrespectful attitude."
Hepfer smirked and made faces as several other residents also called for her removal, but the council took no action to replace her on Tuesday.
