Call to Action: Demand change on the Library Advisory Board!
By John Labriola -
Commissioners will be sitting in their capacity as the governing board for the county's library system, joined by their two fellow board members from the Inverness and Crystal River city councils.
Although Library Director Eric Head recently announced a "cooling off period" on LGBT displays this year, the LAB will likely insist on bringing the displays back in 2023 if the current LAB members are reappointed, since most of them have a history of far-left liberal activism (as reported here last week). The five members whose current terms are expiring have spent a combined 28 years on the LAB, and all five are seeking to be appointed to another two-year term.
The public will have a chance to speak whenever a candidate is nominated by the board. You don't have to talk about the specific nominee on the floor but can discuss LAB nominations in general. After public comment, each nominee will be voted up or down.
This is your opportunity to urge your local elected officials to replace current LAB members with citizens who will respect community values and parental rights and who won't push LGBT propaganda on the children!
Florida's new Parental Rights in Education Act, signed last month by our great Governor Ron DeSantis, bans schools from engaging in the kind of LGBT grooming represented by last June's elaborate displays in the library entranceways, which featured rainbow flags, LGBT slogans and books promoting homosexuality and transgenderism to children. Those displays sparked the sustained firestorm of controversy that led an unprecedented number of concerned citizens to apply for the LAB this year.
The vast majority of Citrus County residents don't want their tax dollars subsidizing LGBT propaganda targeting children in the county's public libraries any more than in the schools. It's time to demand that our local elected officials take action to permanently cancel these displays, beginning with the appointment of new Library Advisory Board members who represent Citrus County values, not San Francisco values!
So be sure to show up this Tuesday to tell your local elected officials to let children be children and let parents do the parenting!
