March 22 hearing set on complaint over LGBT library displays
By John Labriola -
As Citrus County elected leaders prepare to consider shaking up the membership of the county's Library Advisory Board (LAB), the liberal-dominated board will be forced to go on the record on its support for LGBT propaganda displays in our public libraries.
The LAB will meet to consider a formal complaint about the LGBT displays on Tuesday, March 22 at 8 a.m. in the Lecanto Government Building, 3600 W Sovereign Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
"These displays violate community standards, endanger children and force taxpayers to subsidize highly inappropriate political/sexual propaganda," the complaint reads.
The complaint was filed on Jan. 7 by the Citrus Crusader on behalf of the large number of citizens who have protested the displays at multiple meetings of the Citrus County Commission, culminating on Jan. 4 when commissioners narrowly rejected a proposal to cancel the annual monthlong displays after Commissioner Holly Davis insisted on leaving the issue up to the unelected LAB.
The nine-member LAB will be weighing in on the hot-button issue just weeks before commissioners are set to decide whether to reappoint or replace five LAB members whose terms are expiring. On March 8, commissioners rejected the idea that LAB members are entitled to lifetime terms (as previously claimed by County Attorney Denise Lyn) and agreed to consider LAB applications on April 26, when they will be meeting in their capacity as the governing board for the county library system for the third time this year. Joining them will be fellow governing board members Councilman Ken Brown of Crystal River and Councilwoman Jacquie Hepfer of Inverness, who replaced Councilman Dave Ryan as Inverness' representative on the board a week after the Citrus Crusader presented a Sunshine Law violation complaint alleging that Ryan, Davis and Brown wrongfully discussed library policy matters in private. Davis has angrily denied any wrongdoing, while Brown has ignored calls to step aside.
The LAB is currently dominated by leftist activists who have championed the monthlong displays celebrating "Gay Pride Month." Featuring rainbow flags, political slogans and books with one-sided messages promoting homosexuality and transgenderism to children, the displays were set up last June in the entranceways of the Inverness and Crystal River libraries.
If the LAB votes to continue the monthlong promotion of LGBT propaganda in the libraries, all eyes will be back on the county commission as they consider LAB applicants next month. At that point, their decision to either reappoint or replace LAB members will be understood as a vote on the underlying issue of LGBT displays and whether to uphold community values or defy the will of the voters by continuing to expose local youth to the LGBT movement's aggressive grooming agenda at taxpayers' expense.
Residents concerned about protecting Citrus County children from LGBT indoctrination should plan on showing up at Tuesday morning's LAB meeting in Lecanto to make your voices heard!
